Episode 171: Find Your Personal Brand

DorieOn Today’s Show

Author Dorie Clark talks about our own personal brand: what it is, and why it is critical to our future success. Crucial to that process of finding our brand is identifying a group of mentors. The reason that mentors are so useful is that we all learn by imitating. When you expose yourself to the ideas of others, eventually it stops being “copying” and instead you add your own voice and your own perspectives to theirs.

1 Simple Thing Action:

Create a list of a half-dozen people you admire and write down why you admire them. Take on the idea of having a team of mentors, because you don’t have to model one person for every aspect of your life. Instead think of a group of people across various skills and disciplines and say, “What do I admire about each of these people, and what can I learn from them?”
